How voicemail works
If someone calls your nothanumber and you don't pick up, they can leave a recorded message you play back in the app - a bit like visual voicemail on your phone. It's free to receive and listen to, you can read each message as text too, and messages are kept for 14 days.
What is voicemail on nothanumber?
Each of your numbers can take voicemail. When a caller leaves a message, it appears on the Voicemail screen in the app, showing who called, the date and how long it is. Tap play to listen; new messages you haven't heard yet are marked with a dot. Only you can access your messages - they're tied to your account and delivered securely.
Can you read voicemails as text?
Yes. Voicemail-to-text transcription is built in, so you can read a text version of each message in the app as well as listening to the audio - handy when you can't play a recording, or just want to scan a message quickly.
How do you turn voicemail on or off?
Open the app, go to Voicemail, and use the switch next to the number you want. You can turn it on or off for each of your numbers separately, and the change takes effect straight away.
When does a caller get sent to voicemail?
When you don't answer - your phone is off, you're busy, or you let it ring out. If you also have call forwarding switched on, we'll try forwarding the call first and only fall back to voicemail if that isn't answered either.
How long can a message be, and how long are they kept?
A voicemail can be up to 2 minutes long - the recording stops automatically after that, or when the caller hangs up or stays silent for a few seconds. Messages are kept for 14 days, then automatically deleted, so listen to, read or note down anything important within that time.
Is voicemail free?
Yes - receiving and listening to your voicemails is free.
